Scott Wells and Jake Long released

According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch center Scott Wells and left tackle Jake Long have been released from the St. Louis Rams. In 2012, Wells was signed a four-year, $24 million deal with the Rams.

Jake Long was signed to a four-year, $34 million in 2013. Both Wells and Long have been hampered by injuries during their tenure with the Rams. The cuts saved $12.5 on the 2015 salary cap  by releasing both players

Upon their release Head Coach Jeff Fisher said, “Jake and Scott brought experience and professionalism to our program and we appreciate their commitment and hard work. Both of them overcame injury difficulties and provided leadership for our younger players. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for both of them.”

There is a possibility that Long could be re-signed to a lower salary and play either guard or right tackle. The Rams are planning on Greg Robinson to man the left tackle position in 2015 and beyond.
